Q) Do you have a settling in period for children when they start at nursery?

A) Yes we have a settling in week which enables children to make a gradual transition into nursery. Nursery will be a new experience for your child and some children may take longer to feel happy and settled in their new environment. We want your child to feel happy and safe at nursery and for the transition from home to nursery to be an easy one.  To make sure that this is the case, your child's Key Person will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle into the nursery.

Q) What are the ratios of staff to children?

A) The Ofsted recommended ratio in the toddler room is 1:4 and 1:8 in the pre-school. However, at Winterton House nursery we operate with a higher ratio of adults to children which enables us to provide continuity of care at all times

Q) What qualifications and training have staff undertaken?

A) Our staff hold various qualifications and these include NVQ Level 2 and 3 (and equivalents), foundation degrees, BA (Hons) in early years and Early Years Professional Status. Q) What is the Early Years Foundation Stage

A) The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop and are kept healthy and safe.
